Katie Trapp

Mixed Media

Katie Trapp is a Denver-based mixed-media artist and educator originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. She studied Visual Arts at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), where she developed her foundation as an artist and a deep appreciation for creativity and exploration. Always fascinated by the natural world, Katie went on to earn a degree in Microbiology from Mississippi State University, combining her interests in science, observation, and discovery.

Katie’s background in both art and science continues to influence her creative practice. Inspired by the beauty, color, and variety found in nature, she creates layered mixed-media artwork using acrylic paint, collage, photography, maps, and botanical imagery. Her work explores floral and organic forms, natural patterns, and the connections between growth, transformation, and place. Through vibrant colors, playful textures, and thoughtful compositions, Katie creates pieces that celebrate the complexity and resilience of the natural world.
