Mixed Media

Creating scrapbooks and greeting cards was my passion for a long time. But 10 years ago I was introduced to mixed media and it was love at first splatter of paint! A few years later I learned about adding metal, wood, and fabric to make assemblage pieces. After the Marshall Fire, I started combining paint and mark making with assemblage of things from the ashes on our property. Melted metal, glass, beads, rusty bits, charcoal, and charred wood became a big part of my art and helped me work through the grief of loss. Not all my pieces have remains of the fire, but experimentation has been a very soul-satisfying way of expressing myself.
