Painting
To me, abstract painting is much like music: There are principles and structures that come into play (shape, color, direction, what is light and what is dark), with infinite opportunities for variation.
As viewers/listeners, we each may have an emotional response to the work, perhaps seeking a story line or meaning. Without words, we create our own experience.
One of the challenges of abstract painting is deciding when to stop. Rarely do I finish in one session and have something that sits right. Most times I return to the images and look for what’s missing, where I get stuck, and keep adding layers.
