Sculpture
I am a mother, grandmother, lawyer, interior designer and most recently an artist. I create my sculptures and paintings with repurposed wood pieces that I source at thrift shops and garage sales. I first design the sculpture or painting, then disassemble the pieces. I then hand paint the pieces individually and reassemble them.
The process for the sculptures includes drilling holes through the individual pieces with my drill press so that I can run a carbon fiber rod through the pieces to give the sculptures structural integrity. The paintings are reassembled and affixed to a stiff board.
I have worked in many mediums and fell into this during the pandemic when I was mostly homebound. The process of creating and painting these pieces was incredibly soothing and it enabled me to clear my mind and focus solely on the work. Continuing this work gives me joy and peace.
